I've been thinking lately- I had to ask myself... Is there any hope for us? Or, what do we have left? I guess that we've used all the words Explaining how we feel... I've asked myself, I'm asking you- Is any of it real? Can we really call it love- And yet remain apart? I know we both have shed our tears- And had our broken hearts. Some tell me I am jaded- A cynic without peer... In spite of that, I really wish, That I could have you here. Why?... I'd like to be with you- And maybe hold your hand. And share my wild and misspent life, And have you understand... The things which serve to make me, me- The lonely miles and years- The deserts, and the mountains, blurred... Seen through a veil of tears. I'd take you back where I was raised- We'd walk the country lanes- We'd drive to Arizona, and- Then we would ride the plains... I'd like to just be with you- To have you at my side... They'd say above our bleaching bones "Together, here, they died". |
