Thinking’s going to kill me, I really believe that’s true. Since my every waking thought-Seems to be of you. I think of you each morning, When I open bloodshot eyes, And when I find myself alone, I sadly realize… That when you said, “It’s over” You meant it from the heart- And facing life without you, is where my heartaches start. I wrack my brain and try to see just where it was I failed- Was it the nights I never called, or the letters never mailed? Was it the years I wasted, just going down the road- The victory never tasted in the time I rodeoed? I can’t forget the morning I arrived to find you gone- You’d taken everything you owned and left me all alone. I’ve looked at every angle and I’ve reread every line, Looking for an answer that I know I’ll never find. The note was short and simple, I would not call it sweet… You told me how you cursed the day that fate caused us to meet. You told me of the tears you shed back when I started drinking- Now I’m alone, all on my own- That’s what I get for thinking! [This message has been edited by Gunslinger (08-28-2019 01:26 AM).] |
