Nick of Time~

In the nick of time,
before the carnival lights dim,
and the favorite merry-go-round
horse is hoisted from its pole,
before I fold up my tent and go home,
will it find me again..
that unconditional kind,
the walking in the rain
because you can't stop
thinking of him kind.

Quiet time,
when sitting on a porch
sharing kisses and small talk
is the most comfortable
thing there is,
then laughter and passion
in the bath,
where I'd wash the day
from his back,
and he'd pull me in too.

Don't want a lap of luxury,
just one that's always open
to my straddle.
When so much uncertainty looms,
we all search for one version
or another..
Love in the nick of time.

Sky-
I love this! Went to one of her concerts a long time ago with two girlfriends. It was a special time and trip. Bless your heart for that recall. ~L

Lovely treatment of the theme "unrequited love". It doesn't seem that such a relationship should be so hard to attain, and even harder to maintain. Beautiful work, Sky.

"will it find me again..
that unconditional kind,"

A beautiful sentiment to something we all dream of.  Once is more than most of us get though I think.

REALLY enjoyed this . . . especially the lines:
"Don't want a lap of luxury,
just one that's always open
to my straddle."  So much to be had from that simple phrase . . . so, so many stories.
