Fair to middlin' of nowhere

I’m old,
it is official and
undeniable now.
Nevermind the
gray hair,
wrinkles,
memory loss,
inevitable weight gain and
age spots…
I have an old skin boo boo
on my arm.
It is an angry red blotch
from a run in
of unknown origin.
It is not
a bruise,
a scratch,
a scrape or
a burn.
It is that distinctive
and unique damage
done upon old skin.
The more elderly the skin,
the larger and darker,
almost black
the blotches become.
Mine is just a little red one.
Nonetheless,
a line has been crossed,
it is a harbinger.
As I contemplate
the implications,
I realize my attitude
is rather Eeyore
about it.

Awwww Lori..you have a lovely face..a few skin
blotches can't take that away, nor your great
attitude! Loved your Eeyore-close.

Sky, thanks so much for saving my goose-egg! I was afraid it was doomed to the land of the unread. LOL. So happy you liked my ending! ~L

I bet you are not near as old as I feel, Lori.  Your ending made me smile though.

We do become a bit Eeyore with time. It tends to beat us up a bit as we get older. They say time doesn't really exist but every new wrinkle
insists that it does.

Michael,
Don't count on it, I just tried watching my 14 month old grandson for a few hours the other day and it totally kicked my butt! Took me a whole day to recover! I was walking about a mile and a half a day until Dennis got cancer and then I just went to pot. I'm sure my core has turned to jello. Come to find out, I've had severe sleep apnea as well. At least that part I'm getting under control. ~L

Ida,
I agree 100%! And the extra pounds I've picked up along the way are just as bad. Don't know that I'm willing to trade pounds for wrinkles yet, but I bet my knees wish I would. ~L
