Fog on the horizon
blurs the colors
of the rising sun,
giving the illusion
of a wash
making the colors run.
Until the sun rises high
and burns the mist away,
all the hues are tempered
with different shades of gray.
The entire eastern sky,
painted by hand unseen,
is framed by heaven and earth
in a smoky color scheme.
