Fair to middlin' of nowhere

There is a hole in my heart,
just about the size of
a cold black nose
and two shiny black eyes,
a big white mustache
and two bushy eyebrows.
A little gray stump of a tail
that wagged so fast,
it seem to vibrate.
Gone is his bark
for a biscuit,
his scratch at the door,
his contented sigh
when his ears were scratched.
Gone is his bad breath.
No one to greet me
when I get home.
No more games
of hide and seek.
No more pawing my leg
for attention.
No little nose
softly brushing my calf
as he follows me to the door.
No more clanging of dog tags
on his food bowl twice a day.
No more kisses
or cuddles.
No more farting.
No more going outside to potty.
No more trips to the vet.
No more pain.
No more, my Winkydoo.

Oh..I'm So Sorry (((Lori))), it's a horrible
ache of sadness when they go.
I've always believed your beloved pet will
show some kind of little sign just for you..
& you'll know in your knower it was them, &
they'll be waiting for you on the other side.

I am so sorry, Lori - about Winston, about my reaction above but I couldn't imagine him gone - about how you and Miss Kitty must be coping. I have no words, only tears and sympathy - sorry about that too. Hugs.

I am so very sorry to hear about Winstons passing ~ I'm weeping with you my friend ~ Through your writing I feel like I knew him and I could always see him through the pictures you would paint. Thank you friends for your warm thoughts. I'm sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I've taken this quite hard. And for all the pets I've had come and go over the years, this is an emotional first for me. I miss him so much.
