Slip Beneath the Waves

Confetti under the floorboards
the color drained from the sky
it’s like our love is a mirror
and it stares back at us tonight

The moon hides behind the clouds
and the carnival has moved on
we all reach out for the ring
even after the ride is done

I’m dreaming myself back into your embrace
while I slowly slip beneath the waves
oh I never thought it would end this way

Burned bridges, ash and salt water
I dare my eyes to look back
what I see will define me
these footsteps lead into black

I'm dreaming myself back to life's parade
but am I destined to slip beneath the waves
oh please I don’t wanna fade to grey

Just past the boulevard empty of cars
I walk around in the shadow of my scars
fortune favors the foolish not the bold
love and a tune in my pocket shine brighter than gold
so if there’s a knock at your door late one night
don’t shut me out, I wanna tell you I’ve seen the light
and I see it and I see in you, a feeling so secret and safe
a reason to live, to get my head above these waves

Confetti under the floorboards
but we’ll repaint the sky
it’s like our love is a mirror
and it smiles back at us tonight

Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

The confetti really grabs me, likewise, confetti celebrates you and your poetry. Honestly, I absolutely adore you. I really want it all to come true for you. I really do.
