I wrote this testimony poem back in 2013 ~ I am celebrating 5 years of life since my heart attack.  I wanted to share it with you and give glory to God  ~ Thanks if you read & God Bless

Life doesn't dole out many second chances
Especially when death rears its ugly head
Yet here I humbly sit with pen and paper
An abundance of praise upon my lips and in my heart

I still hear the Doctor's shocking words ringing in my head
"Massive heart attack" reverberates in my ears
Surgery now or death slices through the pristine ER
I am in denial; I feel fine; I am not prepared for this

I am surrounded by a sea of taunt, anxious faces
I see worry and hints of fear in the depths of their eyes
All I can think of are my kids, I didn't get to see them
I didn't get to tell them or anyone that I love them

I pray and turn it all over to the Lord

A calmness comes over me from head to toe
I feel like I have stepped outside of myself, an onlooker
Every one scurries to their tasks with great precision
The room is a blur of masked white shadows hovering about me

I wait for an injection of the magic sleeping potion
But, alas, there will be none on this eye opening journey
Lights, camera, action and the big screen looms into view
Surgery begins and I lay there in a trance, staring at my heart

I watch as they open my artery and allow my life blood to flow
They're discussing procedures and sports events in the same sentence
My mind tries to make sense of the medical terms flying about
My brain seems to have a blockage too: It sounds like gibberish

I pray and turn it all over to the Lord

Two heart surgeries and seven stents later here I sit in awe
Sixty-five percent of my heart damaged, it will be a long road ahead
I don't know why God spared my life, but I do know one thing
All things are possible with God and I am proof of that miracle

Each day brings with it new challenges that have to be met
But with each mountain that has to be climbed comes strength
The love for life and living becomes more precious than ever
My perseverance knows no bounds as I strive for complete healing

I am more thankful now for each sunrise and sunset I get to behold
Though I am worried about future surgeries and complications
I feel very blessed and am thankful for each beat of my heart
So that I never pass up the chance again I say to my family & my friends

I Love You and Thank You for touching my life

Most inspiring, Miss Pinky.

For me, there is a "nutshell" and the 'nutshell' is this:
quote:
"I pray and turn it all over to the Lord"
Bright Blessings, my dear...many of them.

...just bein' Bluesy

Hi Pip, this is a "terrible story", and it is so legitimate to thanks God, or someone, the doctors, the nurses, I wish now that you will be quiet with your heart, and live many goods things that you deserve, with tour kids and family, this can happen to everyone, we have to care, thanks for the "inspiring" poem

take care

Pink...This is my first time to read this and I must say Thank God for sparing you and for giving you that second chance. You were given this second chance because God has something special for you to do in life and until you do what he has set for you to do you will remain here. This happened to me and I think thru my faith I know what my purpose in life is and I work everyday doing what I think he wants me to do...Paul

I read your poem, Poet (pink is not my favourite colour, so I prefer to call you Poet) with tears streaming down my cheeks, and had a reply ready and read all the replies.  I had cold (not unpleasant) shivers when I read Paul's reply, as what I wanted to say was some of what he did (not the "This happened to me" bit).  So I will quietly repeat that your work on Earth is not yet done.  You must be doing it well, seeing that God wants you to keep on doing it.  I will read more of your poetry (despite the pink font - forgive me for saying that, - it just goes to show the impact of your poem (am I forgiven now?).   Praying for your continued successful worktime on Earth.

OwlSA ~ Thank you for reading and for your kindhearted comments. Please don't feel you ever have to apologize for saying you don't like pink font....I don't apologize for using it my friend. It has been my favorite color since I was a little girl ~ My dear sweet Moms color too...I lost her many years ago, but when I see something pretty and pink it brings her to mind with a smile.  We are all individuals, and that is what makes each one of us special...When I write my poetry it comes from my heart and soul and to me the color of font makes no difference   It is a soothing and happy color in my life...Alas my pen name...Poet In Pink...
Blessings to you

I tried to reply to your email but it wouldn't deliver. I think it has something to do with the fact you don't have an email icon.
Don't fret, no harm intended by a very gentle soul. No word from the lovebirds, they may be writing a book about their love story. hugnubak ~L

Maybe Jesus sneaks back in once in a while. He did it before, right?
