When Kitchener said
Your country needs You
We had no idea we'd be dead
Before we reached 22

An incoming shell
Signals another attack
And they advance in to the flames of Hell
Knowing they probably won't be coming back

"Up and at 'em Lads,
Let's give Jerry what for
You know what they say
Fortune favors the brave "

Trying not to look scared
Hiding the fear in their eyes
One  last Woodbine shared
A prayer mumbled to the skies

We all acted as one
When we heard the command
And with loaded gun
Entered No Man's Land

Covered in blood
Trying to avoid flying lead
Face down in the mud
Clambering over the dead

Thousands of Sons, Dad's & Brothers
Cover the killing floor
Their significant others
They'll see no more..

Now every November
The survivors with Pride parade
So that we will always Remember
The price that they paid ...

Brave men and women continue to fight for what is right.

John... Great tender write of war, but nothing is tender about war. You have a gentle touch... Paul
