The rain’s been falling for days in fits and drizzles. Slowly it soaked into the soil until the soil could hold no more. Then the water began to fill ditches and stand in fields. The river is on the rise. Flood warnings go out as the water spills out across streets and roads. Umbrellas and boots are trending along with heavy sweaters and coats. Furnaces are being turned on for the first time this season. Windows fog over from bubbling pots on the stove and ovens that sat idle two weeks ago in the heat, are baking up autumn treats. Those that are sensitive to gray skies are slowly succumbing to the gloom. Others are getting claustrophobic staying warm and dry inside. Everyone is waiting for the rains to subside. Maybe tomorrow or the next, the sun will shine again. But not for long they say, more rain is on the way. LGR©10/9/18 |

Hello Lori, the weather has ups and Downs and sometimes it can be too much...I felt reading your poem, it could be the case, use great images, almost provocative against the weather, thanks for the excellent share yann |

Thanks for being here Yann and commenting. Seems like you and me are the only ones still talking. It means a lot. ~L |

Oh no, I'm still talking, just don't want to interrupt . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
