Fair to middlin' of nowhere

I have heard that
if the trees get enough rain
before it is time
for the leaves to turn,
the colors will be more brilliant.
I should hope we’ve had plenty.
More than usual fell in August
and it has rained nearly every day
the first week of September.
There is one tree in particular
I’m anxious to see.
The big Red Maple in the front yard
I hope will look amazing.
Last year was dry
and disappointing.
The leaves were big and brown,
dry and crispy.
They curled up and blew away
without so much as a touch of color.

I like the company of trees, and then the rain  is necessary for trees to grow, thanks lori for the émotionnel and beautiful reading there is always something to learn in a poem, whatever it talks about, this is a very good one

Red Maples aren't as common down here as the Silver Maples with the silver sheen on the bottom of each green leaf.  They "Autumize", somewhat, but not like the Reds - the silver being visible all year, expecially when the wind is blowing.

enjoyed,

Winkin', Pinkin', and Yann,
I'm really glad you enjoyed my first of my annual fall series of poems. Personally I feel this is rather lame, but I'm just gettin warmed up and have to clear out the cob webs.
This may be a short series if winter comes early, or if my muse don't get it in gear.

I hope you get your wish, my friend, and the leaves will be gorgous this fall.
