I Swear

I swear,
I saw the soul of you
rise above us -
hardly seen
it watched us,
our throes of passion,
so steamy, so hot,
it may just have been
the mist arising
from the sweat of
our love.

I swear,
whatever it was,
it screamed,
in its soundless voice,
with us -
it arched its back,
it tensed its being
with every move we made . . .

and it slumped,
slowly faded away,
as did we, enwrapped
in one another’s arms,
exhausted, fulfilled,
and so . . .

in Love.

Ahhh . . . I relate, my friend, big time. I still see her. This is a captivating poem.
