The poems of Billy Collins,
I have to read them twice,
To possess them,
To interfere with the light
And the gold they talk about,
Because they are not made for the brain,
But for the dreaming heart,
If they talk about dust, or anything,
The words of the guests are more precious
Than the guest themselves,
They shine in a ray of missing light,
A missing light from the past,
That’s the nature of Billy Collins poems.

Eh . . . Even after reading them twice I cannot "feel" his poetry, and I have tried a number of times.

I'm not one who wants to spend that much reading time trying to understand poetry yann. I want the poetry to talk to me without having to ask it to repeat itself. I'm very fond of Edgar Guest. Probably my all time favorite, besides you and Jerry.

Loving Linny Jean is poetry.

hi Ari, i respect all ideas about reading poetry, there is no truth about and don't forget, i read it twice may be cause i am french thanks for the interesting and very respectable comment, i will seek for edward guest for sure

Yann, I had never heard of Billy Collins until I read your lovely poem. You inspired me to find poems by Billy Collins, and I read 3 of them and loved them to bit and felt every word of their excellence - they remind me a bit of your poetry. Thank you for introducing me to a wonderful new experience. Smiles.
