The Swamp I was not born in the swamps of Louisiana at least I do not think I was however there is a photo of infant me taken, I was told, in Golden Meadow in a stroller dad was supposedly working offshore anyway a swamp is different from people like me, who come to live here in the cities raised from a boggy swamp swamp is used as a figure of speech by us but when a true Cajun speaks of the swamp it is with great pride for having lived his whole life there grew up listening to tales of the pirates which raced up and down the bayous squeezed in by trees leaning over the bayou where the sky was often thwarted by the overlapping of said trees as they sailed along, stopping only to steal and kill not noticing the gorgeous scene before them stunning flowers of all kinds and an old gators eyes above the water to keep their own eyes alert within the mire of the swamp huge Cypress trees stood like Satan himself the swamp was alit with a rowdiness and still is in some respect outsiders can never grasp the closeness of those of the swamp and tales of Marie Laveau ©May 3, 2018 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (05-03-2018 11:59 AM).] |

That the swamps of Louisiana are the stuff of legends, is a certainty... But the dangers that lurk within it are quite real. I enjoyed reading this of yours, Jerry. Keep your toes in the boat! (...and to think they make such a fuss over the Everglades!} ...just bein' Bluesy |

Your State and the swamp in particular has a color and vibrancy all its own and the people are just as unique. ~L |

The difference, Blusey, in the Everglades and the swamps of Louisiana is its people. Whereas the Everglades promoted themselves, the Cajuns of south Louisiana really don't care much for outsiders. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (05-03-2018 07:34 PM).] |

I agree, Lori. I first came to south Louisiana on my Senior trip. Fell in love with it, and still do. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
