The lamplight dims
casting shadows like fishing nets
soon to be pulled in
revealing empty catches

In the corner, my dogs grumble
with only milk-bones on their minds
A dream state curiously signaled
by a rapid paw movement (RPM)

The clock hands
continue their rhythmic dance,
turning and passing
with an occasional caress

A silhouetted revolver
exquisitely amber-lit
by a crystal glass of cognac
balanced by a sense of imbalance

one in the cylinder...

Ahhh . . . Grim write,Blusey, which is all the more reason I like it. Line after line served the reader the down and out of the unevenness of the brain.

~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~

Thanks for reading into my poem so well, Jerry.

I appreciate it.

It is grim alright Bluesy, that "one in the cylinder" stuff got my panties in a worrisome wad. That'd be like me writing about a bottle of pills and a bottle of wine. No Bueno. Tell me you are okay so I don't worry about you getting lead poisoning. ~L

Forgot to mention it is a real good poem, your ending pops up out of the blue(sy) and thunks you between the eyes. Your first stanza is just plain cool. ~L

So many thanks, Miss Lori. Ja, everything's fine & dandy. You can untie your 'unmentionables' now.
Hmm. But you did mention them, didn't you?

True News Flash FYI: I can't own one of those anymore, and likely never will be able to.
