You Were the Ocean

You were, before light
        And the Sea,
           the unchanging Sea
I sink in this moment of self
What course,
           what winds to follow
The searcher,
              and only horizons
                  No Islands, again
Fires of heaven…
       shine me a warming shore…
             Erin’s welcome hidden
And I regret not knowing it
      Or never touching you
          Yes never touching you
But you touched me…
       More, more
            then you may know
A fire rekindled,
              was almost spent
Yes this voyage had moments
       and oh what moments…
                …could I but tell
Still the water is calm
the wind so smooth so warm
and the only Port I seek
                          eludes me this life
Erin’s shore is far…
     far from the emerald Isle
                far from the fire pits
The night,
        like the unchanging sea
so faithful in its hollow torture
The wind is a prankster
       like a jester bestowing uncertainty
I wait enthralled, expecting the trick
                     always searching
                          always searching…

Great work Parker....

Love this kind of thing...
