Meandering I wither, as upon the tine— Suffer the fate of our design... Yet without a course to resolve, Day by day watch myself dissolve. Awaiting Death I have no choice But to, in thought of him, rejoice; And dance, sinking into this hole, Still dangling from your gallows pole. The weight of which, unascertained, Forever to lie unexplained As it follows me through the black Abyss, from which there's no way back. Often as not, I choose to wait, Rather than once again tempt Fate; Though know too well a pensive course Only leads to grounds of remorse. So of the dark meandering A tomorrowless world will bring, One thought stands clear to eyes in thrall: It seems I'm human, after all. And yet this stark and graceless night, Which stopped to bless me with its plight, Tells me tomorrow yet may come If by beat of funeral drum. So I wake not, but linger on Through a cold and impassive dawn, To dream that face, to touch those lips— Feel the touch of your fingertips. To drink your smile, if one last time, As the old grandfather clock chimes; Eyes closed, where I still hear you sing, So lost to this meandering. Michael Anderson 9/23/2013 |

Ahhh . . . The pain. The pain. The PAIN! I fear it will never leave you Michael, but can only hope that as the days, weeks, months and years roll on by, your heartache will lessen and give you a kind of piece. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

A dark beauty in its entirety. Written by one who lives the pain. I wish for you a ray of sun and a brighter day. |

Great write, Michael. That is some heavy "Meandering". Loved the expressive/descriptive vision of the last verse. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |
