78 in January While the rest of the world freezes We keep setting record highs. You can't help but feel it's Spring here If you look up to the skies... To see the flocks of birds roll past— Feel the sun's warmth on your face. I know somewhere someone's suffering, But gawd, I love this place. Three weeks in the high seventies, Is Winter next, or Summer? A hundred degrees in February, Now that would be a bummer! Michael Anderson 1/19/14 |

Michael, I enjoyed this very much. I am glad that you live in sunny California and that you love it so much. I live in sunny South Africa and I love it too. I realize that January is your winter and that is why 76º Fahrenheit (36ºC for us as we use Celsius) is very high for winter, but, here it is summer and recently we have had a few days in Durban at 30ºC (which is roughly equivalent to 86ºF) and in a few parts of the country it has been (although this it is not usually as high as that in those places), 35ºC (96ºF) to 40ºC (104ºF)!! I used to love the cold when I was a few dozen centuries younger, but now I much prefer the heat. Owl |

Just in from shoveling yet another snowstorm to the waysides. The cold, frosty air does have a fresh taste to it though and that makes the task more pleasant. I've lived in many places and likely will live in many more before I expire. Several Los Angeles areas are included among my favorites, especially the beach towns that were full of fun day and night. No sun quite like a California sun and no girls quite like California girls. Thanks for reminding me in your thought provoking poetry.. ...just bein' Bluesy |

Oh, we had -30îÑ (-22oF) yesterday, but today only -20îÑ (-4oF) I have to say, that cold winter isn't so terrible, if you have central heating at home and warm clothing ) |

Thanks all. I was worried because drought years are murderous where I live and we're looking at the first January in recorded history here with no rain at all. Gale's comment help to keep things in perspective though. Guess I'll just keep enjoying the good weather while we have it. Michael |
