There’s a problem in say goodbye When most every night there’s a moon in the sky, And I can’t help thinking of you. When a flower just about to bloom Reminds me why my name is Gloom Because coming beauty reminds of beauty gone. A sight that will never renew And I can’t help thinking of you. What is left when a love is done But memories and a problem of moving on. Gloom |

Oh, this tugs at my heartstrings, dear Professor Gloom! It is exquisitely penned and the conclusion is inevitable. Peace and enjoy the beauty of the moment, nonetheless. Margherita |

You won't be saying goodbye for a long time to come, Professor. I know some days feel like it... but your words are here...and so are you. |

Ah memories, memories. If only we could filter the pleasant from the tortuous. |

Professor The last word of the last line I believe is the kicker for us all...moving on. No matter the situation, I don't think it is easy for any of us and the more tender the heart the harder it is. Lori |

So sad...memories are golden and double edged at the same time. |

Professor Gloom,I think it is time for me to repost this poem. Love does not die when it is over for what ever reason.I have had many who had no choice but to leave me when they had to leave this world, but their love lingers within my heart.Even if they left on their own accord the memories should still bring smiles not gloom.I wish this warmth for you. I have never felt the love That others speak about. I do not understand the pain Some profess that love has brought. I never felt that type of love But, I have memories that speak, Of kindness and thoughtful ways Of rearing youngsters in those days, Of being busy with just living And keeping life together. Memories of sharing thoughts, Of tears shed, Over loss of babies never born. Our daughter, so bright and yet Found life just too hard to stay. The son who never lived Beyond one day. Tears of sadness and then of Happiness, Brought on by little things. And although I often think of all of it. I do not dwell upon the loss But share the memories of love. jo perry Aug 14 2006 |

Maybe this is why some languages have no word translating to goodbye. When I have said "Goodbye," it seems, when I have least expected it, we meet again to say "Hello." The older I become, the more I see a cycling affect, perhaps Karma, continually giving opportunities. Dale Evans and Roy Rogers had it right when they sang, "Happy trails to you until we meet again". Reality keeps moving on, but none us know where it will take us. As you can tell, I enjoyed reading and reflecting upon your poem. miscellanea |

Writing well as usual I bought my share of mistakes so I might see some interest. |

"What is left when a love is done But memories and a problem of moving on." I think, this is just me, that love never dies, even if moving on is in the cards, love is always in the hearts. Enjoyed, Bud! JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |
