I have known the glory of battle and the taste of victory sweet. Heard the ring clash of arms and borne the burden of defeat. I have carried forth the banner of nations and of kings, fought for love and honor and some less virtuous things. On the battlefield I held my breath against the foul stench of death while my mind recalled the pageantry that had envisioned only victory. Then I looked into the eyes of a mother in the aftermath of war and chose to come into this world as a warrior... Nevermore. Ida Werrett |

Ah, wish it was that simple, Ida, but evolving generations go to battle not understanding what they are doing. Brings to mind words of an old song, "Ain't gon study war no mo, ain't gon study war no mo." ~*~ The poor wish to be rich, the rich wish to be happy, the single wish to be married, and the married wish to be dead. ~*~ |
