      Until There Was You!

Just beyond the vast shipwreck
  of my life and dreams,
in that lost and self-consuming
nether-world of blackest woes,
I became a forlorn wandering
shade with only darkness stuck
  to my soul,
forsaken by all like a memory
far too easily forgotten,
until there was you
who taught me to live, hope,
love, and dream anew.
