They talk about an itch that occurs approximately every seven years or so to married couples Apparently in that length of time a person grows and changes as a natural matter of course Or not Some couples grow apart sometimes growing in different directions Others find one has grown the other has not They find themselves at odds living with someone who is not the same person they married Incremental changes can find them incompatible Or not Not all couples are doomed of course Some in seven years grow closer The fabric of their lives interweaving as they grow together Overcoming irritants like toilet seat positions and hand washables hanging to dry We were fortunate We were wedded as much to our struggles as to each other As the years passed and struggles diminished we were all the stronger and full of gratitude Our love has grown deeper and richer over time Leaving us with not an itch but a place of longing and contentment in our hearts for each other Giving us something special to celebrate on our 7th Anniversary come the 9th of June |

Thanks Jo, Yann and Emma, I am fortunate. They say third time's a charm and they just might be right about that. All I know is that it keeps getting better, and I'm not wondering if I did the right thing. Lori |

It is more than that. It is recommitting yourself as a different person to a different person. Continuing your own personal growth and supporting the personal growth of your partner in a relationship isn't always the easiest thing to do. But well worth the effort. Lori |

Congratulations for the 9th. How very sensible and balanced this is. If the inevitable changes are met with mutual respect, patience, understanding and adaptability, there'll be no scratching come the seventh year. |
