WALL OF DARKNESS 1961 http://soundcloud.com/diana-van-den-berg-2/wall-of-darkness I stood and looked in the cool of the twilight - the sun was peacefully sinking low, her last rays glowing and lovingly encompassing the world in a soft and rich, warm glow. Suddenly a trembling, rumbling, grumbling shook the world of that mighty plain. and out of the east, with a powerful thundering, the wild black horses of dark night came, Tossing their heads as they galloped in number, their tails outstretched in the whistling wind. I stood transfixed as they surged towards me, unable to move or turn away. Larger and larger they grew and larger, until in their race they surrounded me. With thrashing hooves in their furious charge, they rushed right on to the western sea. Until they reached those deep, deep waters, and left me behind in the night - alone. You were quite the poet even then, Diana. Interesting how poets seem to be poets from the start. Ida |

Thank you, Ida. You warm the cockles of my heart! Have you some poetry from when you were younger? I would love you to post it if you have. Owl |

grand-fine 'write!' ... I started writing 'poetry' via the approach/technique of 'minimalistic constructionalism' with cascading Gaia imagery around age 16. After some 1500 of my humble 'scribbles,' I still haven't figured out if it is a blessing or a curse that 'I write therefore I am,' etc.?! ... although nature and poetry may have actually 'saved my life' more than once ... |

Well penned for one only sixteen years of age. The thundering horses was quite the metaphor for the oncoming darkness. I recall the onslaught of darkness that transfixed me in a similar manner, if at a much younger age... it's taken some 40 years to find my way out. As overpowering as that darkness was, I am equally awed by how glorious the dawn of a new day has been. Anyhow, your title drew me in, Diana, and I'm glad. I always love to see artistic expression in it's purest, unedited form: that of the young and/or untrained author. For all the unpolished edges one may find along that path, many turn out to be diamonds in the rough. Michael |

Thank you, Bruce. Glad to hear it. Thank you, Michael, for your kind words. I am so happy that the dawn that you have discovered recently, is staying glorious, day after day! Owl |

Your poetry draws the reader into a world of wonder every time I wish I had saved some of my own poetry from my younger days, it is wonderful that you held onto your own |

What a delightful thing to say, EmmaRose! Thank you! I am very happy that I do this for you! Some of my poetry is lost, but I, too, am happy that I have most of it. 68 year old giggles at the Miss 16, James! Smiles. Thank you for reading and enjoying and commenting. Owl |
