It’s not as easy to open doors any more, She’s not as pretty as she was before, A lot of Jazz and too much Blues With a long stretch of only bad news, She needed a song of hope or happiness Not her normal verge of hopelessness; She had to project a different style. Her wardrobe was a single dress of green That hung lose on her body so lean, Not a bracelet or even a ring, Sold long ago to eat something, Her waves of hair covered her bare ears Previous failures calmed her fears; A door opened with a song and a smile.
