I leave behind
pieces of me
wherever I’ve been
Sometimes they are small as dust
almost imperceptible
to the touch
Other times
the pieces are
rough and jagged torn
caught on the edges of discontent
Other pieces left
with hugs and kisses
are soft and fuzzy
like dust bunnies under a bed
The proudest pieces of me
I’ve left on paper
or the dinner table
Sultry pieces of me
I’ve left on your skin
and in your beating heart
But, the very best pieces of me
call me mom

Ahhh . . . This is so very, very special, Lori. What a beautiful poem to those who call you mom. You "got" me with that last line, my good friend.
