I prefer the very depths of the Illinois
To people who laugh at it,
In the languages in lack of boring poison,
In the fine spirits which do not like rivers.

I prefer to speak to the tree that to the waiter,
Who looks at you only half,
That to the writer who knows how to make a mushroom omelette
Only on a paper sheet which then he throws,

I prefer the very depths of the Illinois
To gentlemen's poems Deleuze and Soupault,

"The depths of the Illinois". Now that's something I wouldn't have expected here at this pip joint yann.

Your poetry is among the most interesting I've read...really it is.

Back in 1978, I was a participant with my brother in Peoria, Illinois' "Steamboat Days" canoe race which of course is on the Illinois river. We travelled to many races for four years. Yes, the Illinois is a very deep and wide river in places. Never thought I'd hear of it here at pip!

Thanks yann, for bringing some of those days back.

Touch, but don't look

some people for some reason seem to think they're superior to others, but we all come in and go out of this world holding the same things.
