as day turns into
dark
will we think back o’er
what happened since
we first awakened
this morning
how do we feel
about how we got through
our daylight hours
are we pleased
with our conduct
and our one-on-one
with those we met
and had dealings and conversations
with . . .
as night closes around us
did we speak kindly to old folks
slowly making their way down the street
did we remember to
drop coins
maybe even some folding money
in the Salvation Army’s bucket
in front of WalMart
as we think back
did we smile more than frown
do we find times when we could
have done better
spoke more kindly to those we met
eh . . . we can’t be perfect
but we can promise ourselves
faithfully
that tomorrow
can, and will be a better
day than today
that is if tomorrow comes

Your seasoned wisdom is spot-on Jerry. It's a wake-up call for everyone. This work of yours should get far more attention than these tired blue pages.

Splendid poetry.

Loving Linny Jean is poetry.

I always look forward to tomorrow, and to it being a kinder, wonderful day - I always thank God each morning for letting me awake, see and participate in each new day, whatever its vagaries.

Good piece, my friend

Ah, many thanks go out to you, my friend. Although I am not a religious individual I love the peaceful days and acceptance of them thoroughly.
