Midwinter
*
*
Daybreak
Beneath the weeping skies
Defiant postmen peddle
Head down
Along early morning lanes
~
Rattle of letterboxes
Bring get rich promises,
Tidings of the Christ Child
and unpaid bills
~
In the woodlands
Under lifeless leaves
Strings of life are stirring
Saffron tipped harbingers
Of the infant spring

Ahhh . . . So happy to know others admire and feel for our postmen when the weather is bad. That stood out to me in this well written poem, Cari.
