"No news is good news!" all the townsfolk would say While on the other side of chew'n it was another way "Don't take that *Leland Lee" boy! she's bound to run aground!" But I packed my bags up anyway couldn't wait to leave that town There were secrets they'd been keep'n, an' know'n me as one to talk I'd heard em' all a-whisper'n from the time that I could walk The river there flowed swiftly, an' kept us full of fish I guess Miss Molly drowned there some say that was her wish Though no one ever found her no one seemed to care Now I'm sailin' up to Joplin Miss Mollys' paid my fare ...just bein' Bluesy |

"There were secrets they'd been keep'n," You bet, and I ran away from those "secrets" as fast as I could run. Do I relate?Damn straight. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Thanks for your comment Jerry. Anyone who can still say "Damn Straight" has been around awhile. While not an accurate representation of my youth, it is reminiscent of it in enough ways to have written it in story form. Times were tough, yet romantic in their way and yes, there were "secrets" that were eventually discovered, but by that time all the 'zipped lips' had died. You can't keep many today, not for a lifetime anyway. Thanks again. BTS ...just bein' Bluesy |
