   Smoke to an Empty Sky

When all the rainbow leaves
have fallen in the unsettled
winds of Autumn passing,
and a Winter world of
relentless sorrows,
restless longings, and
fading memories,
lies without color
  or purpose,
I hope the path to your
heart won't have closed,
nor all my finest words,
hopes, and and dreams
will have vanished as
December smoke to an
    empty sky.

I always liked your poems like this one a lot! But I'm okay with looking to autumn, but winter? Um, not yet!

I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather...not like the passengers screaming in the back of his car.
