Spears from skies stab hearts and wishes
Feverish blows which tear our eyes
Then tears extinguish flames of anguish
Numbers grow of those who died

In its glorious moment ecstatic
Death preceded the livings doubt
Now we live with fears unshackled
Toast the reaper who waits without

Stir the ready in the cauldron
Mend the mighty fortress wall
Raise the flag unfurl its glory
Rise again to answer the call

First verse sends me into the heat of battle . You gave a good account of it, vivid.
Second verse gives us a look at those awaiting heir own deaths. But the last verse, with the waiting cauldron, and the flag being raised again "to answer the cause."

Wonderful write!

It seems like the whole tragedy ruined us to this day. To be (feel) safer, we have to live in lock-down. An interesting chain of events in your poem.
