Too long the nights,
too crass the sprites
that danced to  Bacchus blush.
Cerebral touch, evading clutch,
leaves only busted flush.
To wipe the slate?
To close the gate?
Nothing to recall?
No, let it lie,
they can't deny,
he painted warts and all.

You betcha! When you "wipe the slate" and "close the gate" what else is there to do but send those "warts and all." I loved this short, to the damn point poem, Redstart.

If it's warts and all no one can say it isn't honest...

Thanks, J. And thanks, Elizabeth. As for honesty: I'd have asked Sir Peter Lely to paint me naked, and trust me: No eye would ever want to suffer the indignity of that little number. x
