I wandered by the river where a strange tree grew, with leaves of bright vermillion, and bark of shining blue. Beneath its shade an old man sat with wizened face that knew, I was so sorely lost that day, beneath its mottled hue. From tattered books that were my life, he read soft' and slow' aloud. Spoke of things that felled my gaze, and no man would be proud. With cupping hands he held my pain, and bade my guilt release. Said, don't you know, my troubled son, all men have books as these? I felt the power within his touch, the warmth within his grace, and when I looked into his eyes.... I saw my father's face. |

Very touching, Redstart. And that is all I have to say. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Dreams are strange, Jerry. My thoughts are with you and all the folk of South Louisiana. I watched a newsreel of a woman being saved from her car, today. She was all but dead, and some angel saved her. And her, little dog. Warmed my heart, yes it did. |

Yes, all of us have those books. Comforting verses here. |
