The Girl in the Blue Dress Gypsy wandering Through my early years Sampling the everyday girls Dressed in cosmetic beauty Tailored to fit my illusions Too soon to fade in the knowing ~ Then; the girl in the blue dress Mischievous eyes, the tilt of her smile I struggle to find the words My gabble of nonsense, subsiding Surely she will dismiss this clown She places her finger to my lips “Shh, don’t try so hard” ~ Beyond the veil of face and form Beauty lies within the infant at her breast In the given balm within her eyes Healing the old scars of memory Beauty, which is untouched by time Beauty will always be The girl in a blue dress |

This is a damn good poem, Cari. Remembrance of "The Girl in the Blue Dress," takes me back to that day when I asked Marionette, my first wife, for her hand in marriage. I will never, to my dying day, forget the look on her beautiful face. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
