Hazy mist of golden corn dust Drifting in the August sunset Creaking hay carts, patient horses, Gentle strength and latent power ~ Cries and shrieks of sun brown children Sent by thirsty, tired out parents Hunting for the jar of cider Cooling under the blackthorn hedge ~ Soulful Blackbird in the high elms Sings a wistful hopeful love song Trilling in the creeping twilight Hanging on the scented air ~ The calling bells of St Peters Lantern light and smoky fires Welcome! Welcome! Happy toilers Peace on earth And harvest home * * A retreat to simpler times and simple ways, without the call of IPods and Cell Phones, but maybe life as it should be lived. Ahhh . . . Yes, yes, yes, I recall those sunburned days. Playing so hard that the world seemed to be a part of your own creation. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Its like looking at a lovely painting like Norman Rockwell or even a Carrier and Ives. You write such nice poems Cari. If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time. |
