Midday is as black as midnight, Silence so loud it hurts your ears. Do not ask your maker for light, Dark and quiet comes from your jeers. Leave your gods and deities be, Beg not for a godly way out. You are the cause of this, you know, Each man his prison brings about. If it is paradise you seek, Try living your life so it fits. A light will shine, words will be spoke, And out of this jam you will get. ©March 14, 2016 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

"If it is paradise you seek, Try living your life so it fits". How true this lesson is, one we should carry about each day. A reminder to jostle us in the hustle and bustle of life. |

I agree with you to a point. I cannot leave my Higher Power be in the darkness, in those times it feel like the light finds me. I agree whole heartedly you have to live your life "so it fits". My happiness feels like a gift to me and gratitude my light I carry to fend off the dark. Your point is well made. ~L |

Thank you, jjote. Yes, that is a lesson some of us find very difficult to abide by. Thank you for being here. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Yes, Lori. living our lives that it fits is sometimes hard to do. My life, for instance. I took different roads, found it hard to conform, but through it all it "fit." ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

There are squares, there are circles and myriad shapes in-between...one for each of us (and another for our mate). Your poetry evokes that of Edgar Guest (my all-time favorite) in its rhythm and pragmatic styling. I truly enjoyed this from all aspects. You never cease to please in your writing Jerry. More feelings and fewer words please |

Thank you so much, Ari, for your wonderful review of my poetry. Now I will have to look up Edgar Guest, because quite honestly I haven not known of him. Thanks again . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
