Modern Day Leper Modern day leper, walk real slow; Pieces of you left, as you go. Ever the outcast, turned away From those who fear your staunch display. Your words an echo, startling tome! Life reached for from a catacomb. Where Death presides, yet hope for such Yields even his avoided touch. No place will have you, nor you them: Who lie like her, who watch, like him... Flay pieces of soul with each word, Your cries for peace dying, unheard. Incredulous, that look in eye, That you would call a lie a lie: Your feast of sorrows from the prow Of honor you can't disavow. Another step, another day To take you yet further away. To dream vanquish, to hope release... Of flesh, of soul, just one more piece. Michael Anderson 4/23/2016 [This message has been edited by Michael (04-24-2016 01:30 AM).] |

Such an awesome poem Michael! I guess I've been a little this way and so has my Billy, but through all of it we're still a pair! I really liked this quote: If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time. |

Good title, great poetry Michael. Tough observations hammered in stone. More feelings and fewer words please |

I like the "modern day leper" image of one who is an "outcast" from love I suppose, and leaving "pieces of yourself" as you go. Great write with a punch to the mind. |
