The Candle How can you love a shadow? Cling to something you can't hold? One moment brighter than the sun, Of Destiny foretold. Who knows where the wind will blow? Or What tomorrow might find? 'Lay the pieces down, one by one, To the altar of my mind. Would I change it had I known? Would the words purse on my lips? Or would that soulsame touch have died Beyond these fingertips. The essence sinking like a stone, Close my eyes to hold on. All tribute to senses denied, A candle flicker drawn. Till the last of dreams, like ashes, Soul wakened to price of trust, In a flicker of wind fall away To be sifted with the dust. Tomorrow just a bastion To the hope I'll never find. I snuff the flame and turn away From the altar of my mind. Michael Anderson 4/08/2016 [This message has been edited by Michael (04-15-2016 08:42 PM).] |

"How can you love a shadow? Cling to something you can't hold?" I guess that's what faith is all about Michael. Never surrender! Great poem too! If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time. |

Thank you James and DoV. I often wonder if surrender is truly an option. Michael |

Deep and thought provoking, and always a good read. You never disappoint, Michael. |
