Long ago in Lambeth South of the Frog and Toad Was a corner shop called Masie’s Just off of the Walworth road ~ On the counter sat a one eyed cat In a cage a Mynah Bird Who could swear in several languages Including some you've never heard ~ There were sweets in jars and chocolate bars Liquorice sticks and sugar candy Papers and mags for mums and dads And the Beano and the Dandy ~ In those childhood days now far away My hero’s could come to me No not Superman but Desperate Dan And Gnasher I long to see ~ Now sad to say I learnt today Dan has eaten his last cow pie Gone with Masie and her Mynah Bird Somewhere lost in the cyber sky * * * |

THIS is beautiful in a lopsided, funny way, Cari . . . quote: Yep, gotta love that Gnasher, and of course Desperate Dan was always . . . er . . . Desperate! ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

The Beano and the Dandy were Brit comics Jerry. Kid’s humour that would send the political corrective crowd today into hysterics but they never did us the readers any harm. Masie’s shop, her cat and Mynah bird really existed, hence the fond memories.I don't know how to do pics here but they would help the piece Thanks for reading. Cari. |

To prevent more misunderstanding you should have some kind of footnote about such characters as Beano and Dandy. I feel used. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
