Hell Hath No Fury~

Gnarled branches lean
and curl to midnight's lap,
shadows leap and crouch an
opal-fire dance
of licks and snaps.

Strange offerings of herbs and scents
thrown to burn and rise in white
pungent plumes,
gypsy women circle flames,
rustle of sashaying skirts,
golden earring swing-shine,
skin flushed hot,
earthy sweat trails curves
to sticky thighs,
all eyes fixed.

Chants whispered low,
growing..
growing still..
till climaxed shrill,
Curse is cast
on him
who did one wrong.

No more pain from his hands,
they will twist
as the manzanita tree..
awash in blood red bark.

Eyebrows arch in satisfaction,
hands clasped, arms raised,
silver bangles meet and clink a final note,
as they spit
into the fire.

I love this! It is stunning! The imagery is to die for, the ending is perfection. Best of all, your topics are so creative. Great work! ~L

Damn straight, this offering you have bestowed upon the writers and readers here in the Blue Rom is, as Lori said, is to die for. I just loved this . . .
quote:
Gnarled branches lean
and curl to midnight's lap,
shadows leap and crouch an
opal-fire dance
of licks and snaps.

The above started this magnificent, informing the reader of what was to follow, and follow it was exquisitely penned.

All women that have been, or are now, physically abused should read this poem.

Excellent work Ms. Jan

This is too good of a poem to be read by only four poets..
