Time brought her the meaning of life
and placed it down at her front door
but slightly, oh, ever so slightly
off to the right so she didn’t trip
and land prone on the ground of her birth.

Now gypsies, you know, traverse here and there
and don’t believe in walking straight lines
so over she went and swallowed and swallowed
enormous amounts of dirt from the earth.

She chocked and spluttered until finally knew
she had to get up and leave it behind
but dirt in these not so merry times
manufactures its own special glue.

So down to the river (there’s always a river)
but where, oh, where, is that special one
that will gladly accept the intolerable
and make believe it never ere was?

So tired and weary the gypsy had grown
from searching and searching to no avail
that she turned about face to make her way
back to the meaning of life.

Too many hills and too many dales
and so much underbrush to clear away
that finally, finally, she had to admit
she was plain and simply completely lost!

Hah! Happen to me one day, although not as dramatic, then again,
maybe it was at that. So for these few years I have left I avail
myself to track back and undo that which I thought undo-able.
I've made progress.

Thanks guys!  I've also made progress.  Just a pity that meaning of life took so long to be delivered but, as they say, nothing's right if the timing's wrong.

And there really could be no other ending because just when we think we've got it all together something else happens to throw us off track.  So, lost for a time until ...

You express yourself so well, helen.  Like you I thought I finally figured what floats my boat, only to battle another storm.

Along the same lines, I read a quote the other day...

When you finally realize your mother was right, you have a daughter who tells you you're  wrong.  I am so there.  Hugs honey girl.

Just like that Gypsy, Lost, but in the end, admit! In like manner, many of us are lost in this world, but we refused to admit and seek the Lord for direction!
Thanks for sharing, Honeybunch!

Nice approach Helen.
I was thinking we are all like that to a certain extent.
A very interesting write, thought provoking.

Thanks booky and Eric.  Perhaps we are all meant to be "lost" so that when we find our way back it is indeed most meaningful.

I think we are always lost but only realize it as we get older. Great write.
