There’s a lake I know where rushes grow And elder shade that cools the soul To breathe the air of summer green Cast a net to catch a dream ~ Cut the knots of mundane care Drop your worries leave them there Time to spend where nature dressed And freedoms afternoon has blessed ~ Water mirror, sunlit glimmer Childhood visions shift and shimmer Sun brown boy in ragged coat Eager eyes on goose quill float ~ Where is this place, please be clear Must I journey far to find? Turn left from the path of yesteryear It lies in the corner of your mind. + + + |

Ahhh . . . Perfecto! What a lovely write, Cari. The words just slid off my tongue, and lovely words they were. But beyond the words was the magic behind them. "Turn left from the path of yesteryear It lies in the corner of your mind." Indeed. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

quote: Wonderful work, Cari! This is MY lake of Zurich ... Didn't know that "elder" was the name of genus Sambucus, in German "Holunder" (we had one). Speak to me in these terms and I am instantly on the spot! Margherita "Forget every touch or sound that did not teach you how to dance." |

"These beauteous forms, Through a long absence, have not been to me As is a landscape to a blind man's eye: But oft, in lonely rooms, and 'mid the din Of towns and cities, I have owed to them In hours of weariness, sensations sweet, Felt in the blood, and felt along the heart; And passing even into my purer mind.." William Wordsworth You brialliantly compact the words of a bard. ( in no way am I insinuating plagiarism) "Where is this place, please be clear Must I journey far to find? Turn left from the path of yesteryear It lies in the corner of your mind." By that, I believe that you have aligned yourself with the great ones, in a more modern form, and sense, of course. In your poetry I find the expressions of a modern day romantic poet..May romance never die. Applause! "Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." |

The lake is one of my favorite places, in memory or in real life. Loved this! |

There is something about a lake at early sunrise which promotes an air of calmness and peace like no other place I know. This is what I tried to express in the poem. Thank so much for you’re kind remarks, I think you share my feelings also. Cari. |
