One day you will leave me, With your last look branded within me, I will not think of your loss, But only of our joyful moments from our past, My belief in heaven or hell does not exist, But hoping that you will live on somehow persist, No paws will console me when I am sad, Or to remind me how precious is life when I am mad, Each day I get to spend with you is a blessing in disguise, You are one of the better things in my life, Surely I will move forward and continue to exist, And overtime memories of you will slowly recede, But once in a while, I will be shaken to my core, In an instant I will be reminded of your lore, Within that moment, I will feel justified, Of all the times I spent thinking of you and cried, Words are mere expression of emotions I cannot figure out, The love we shared will never be in doubt. Be gone and be at peace if you exist in another state, While I await my own similar fate. I speak insanity. I write fantasy. I sleep reality. |

I like how you said "With your last look branded within me". I liked the rest of your poem too. The title sorta reminded me of goo be gone but not a lot just the last two. If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time. |

Poignant poem about the pain we feel when we lose a beloved pet, who is no less than a family member. You have chosen very loving words here. As you say we all are on the same Path. And even though we don't know for sure I trust that we continue to be linked on the level of the soul. (Yes I am positive that animals have souls too). They definitely live on within our hearts.
