sometimes couples after having been together awhile ten, fifteen, twenty years whatever they pretty much stop speaking don’t get me wrong they talk but never speak to each other its as though the years together doesn’t mean they can’t converse they can but more often than not they converse in the third person refusing to break the barrier each of them has erected this way they protect themselves from falling apart they are traveling down murky dirt roads instead of the Super Highway of life also there maybe be a skeleton or two they are hiding fearing if they become verbally intimate these skeletons may come to light and then . . .

wow jerry you really nailed it with this one..
who know's, maybe to some extent, we just dont need words at that point as much as speaking with our actions
maybe when two are together we talk half as much
maybe togetherness means already knowing each other's thoughts
this was great

Sounds personal, and if so, that's too bad.
Difficult communication, or none at any point in a relationship is cause for concern. Good marriages don't need to build walls, so there's none to attach doors to.
This is the stuff that keeps marriage counselors in business....just bein' Bluesy

Jerry, I learned one day that the reason my husband did not tell me something that was important to him was because he did not want my input to sway his decision.I guess some of us come on too strong with our thoughts and never really know it was not really wanted.Goes two ways I think. This was a decision about moving to another state for another job.And yes he was correct I would have given my input. That was a biggie. But I would have voted yes if it was what he wanted. jo

Too bad, Jo, that he didn't understand you enough to think you would have made the move if he was dead set on it, even though you might not have really been into it.~*~ It's not that the man did not know how to juggle, he just didn't have the balls to do it. ~*~

Lordy not going there!! Life is what we make it, however cliche that sounds, I take great comfort in being in charge of my own destiny...and I am happy to say I am not into traveling down murky roads or building walls of my own making.
I'm just saying....
