don't have a tree haven't had one for many years I'm not against Christmas I'm against going into debt because of it many do I'm not exactly religious so Christmas doesn't bring images of Baby Jesus don't remember when Christmas and I kinda parted ways I love the lights and the faces of the innocent ones waiting for Santa as a child I was taught about no room at the inn and the manger swaddling clothes and the three wise men still . . . Christmas to me meant I would receive PRESENTS better to receive than to give no matter what they said in Sunday School my computer will be my tree as it has been for the last nine Christmas' I'm alone except for Zoe wish I was with certain people but I'm not bought Cornish hens long grain and wild rice apricots and mushrooms that'll be my Christmas dinner if I knew any wise men personally I'd invite them for my Cornish Hen nontraditional dinner I'll eat too much I'll feed Zoe too much sit and think wish I was with Paula, Patricia, and Nick ©December 22, 2015 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Sounds to me like you have a good plan and a good dinner in mind Mr Bolton. I couldn't help but notice the absence of your often referred to "California Wine". I accepted it while reading as a forgone conclusion. Besides, what's a Cornish hen dinner without a bottle of wine? I offer you a Christmas toast then, for good health and inspiration Mr. Bolton. I'll toast you continuously for 30 minutes after posting this. I do hope you join me. Capo Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |

Well, in lieu of your presence Mr.Bolton, my Chablis has served its purpose in my company alone. Sorry you couldn't make it. Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |

While the meaning of Christmas isn't the same for all of us, I believe that many relate to your pondering around Christmas. I think you say some wise things. In your heart you can stay with your loved and wise ones. I find you took the right decision in any case to have a nice Christmas dinner together with Zoe. We have to love ourselves first to be able to love others. Zoe knows and you too. For us it is the first Christmas without a tree, except a tiny silvery shining tree to put on a table. My husband bought two big Christmas star plants, there is the crèche and candles, which also bring the right atmosphere .... and well, we too, ate too much! Cheers and blessings, dear Jerry. Cin-cin to Mr. Martini too. Love and peace. Margherita |

One thing about it Jerry, my friend, your holiday is yours to do with as you have the means to do so. Your dinner sounds lovely! Sorry your family can't be with you but I'm sure they will be thinking of you too. ~L |

Ahhh . . . Such a sharp eye, Mr Martini, noticing the absence of the cheap California burgundy in the poem. My reference to it may have not been in the poem, but you can bet it will be front and center when Zoe and I destroy the Cornish hens, Thank you for your kind thoughts. Merry Christmas, man! ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

quote:Had to chuckle a bit here JerryPat! That was me too as a child! With a few exceptions, that was a typical response when Christmas morning finally arrived. Remember how loooooong a year was then? The way things are now, believe it or not, I go to sleep at night and when I awake, it's the next day already! I do hope you and Zoe had a good time of it. You got a good friend there JerryPat, and even more right here. 88's friend, and share one with Zoe. She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

"believe it or not, I go to sleep at night and when I awake, it's the next day already!" I've noticed that lately also, Ticklefingers, amazing isn't it? Zoe growled/barked thank you for one of the 88's. I growled/barked thanking you for your comments . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

At very least, Christmas is a brief and nebulous time when more folks open their 'shut up' hearts to their fellow creatures ... for a little while at least. (so there is perhaps some true 'magic' amid all the mythology, religious overburden, and hyper-commercialism) ... |

Thanks Bruce, you might be hitting on a truth here, but there is no magic in it for me for sure anymore. Like I said, you may be right . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
