Breath out! Breath in!

Love leaped from rocks on high sea cliffs,
romping in the winds that pierce the mists,
stretching out wings ‘cross sun plush lands
to ride on the breaths inhaled by man

and search those souls for hearts of stone
to infuse joy into flesh and bone
and hear their sighs make songs sing
with breath pushed out by Love’s spread wings.

What blast of sound can summon Love.
What beckon of a voice will do.
What ring of the phone can hearken it
to the heartache that reigns in you.

Such crossroad of wonder in the lives of men
has starts, beginnings, hopes and ends.
It’s a tasty, succulent slice of life
that all of us covet and lucky ones bite.

We hunger for its pulse and starve ‘til it comes,
feeding on its impact with a glorious hum,
crying when it’s over dripping tears so frail,
thinking we’ll never breathe, love again or inhale.

But Love still leaps from high sea cliffs,
with a romp in the wind and a pierce of the mists,
yet hears that heartache’s voice so thin
that it spreads its wings on the next breath in.

Love, yin yang. Living with it or without is equally challenging as two become one or one goes it alone.

Colorful poetry and a good read Namyh.

There was a time when I thought i wouldn't get over someone I liked, but I did. I met my billy and forgot everybody else.

It was just a thought which made them run. It was just an act that killed them.

Really liked your last stanza...

"But Love still leaps from high sea cliffs,
with a romp in the wind and a pierce of the mists,
yet hears that heartache’s voice so thin
that it spreads its wings on the next breath in."

...a good ending and on such high. Enjoyed.
Thanks
Pete

Just so, dear Namyh! This could be a very precious poem for "first graders" in love relationships. We  never should succumb to despair ... but then who didn't? At least once?

Excellent write and beautiful imagery too.

Ticklefingers – Love! Living with it or living without is a deep challenge for any human heart. Fortunately, poetry is around to help a soul that may be climbing out of a pit and also there to prevent another about to fall into one. Now I’m kinda glad my new crayons made this colorful for you. I love Crayola! Namyh

Daysofview – Just when you think you’ll never feel that way again, Fate comes along and taps you on the shoulder saying “Hey! I got a surprise for you”. Makes me poetic happy yours was a Billy. Namyh

Pete – Hope springs eternal in the human heart, especially when we think all else has abandoned us. I had hoped that last stanza would portray some of Hope’s uplifting sentiment and impart some courage to where it’s most needed. Thanks for enjoying Pete. Namyh
