November

Ring down this gaudy curtain

This kitschy finale wearies me

Away with your rainbow leaves

And leave the stage

November’s creeping tread

Gentle in the coming

Welcome pall bearer, do your duty

Lay to rest the dying days

Spare the Hawthorn berries

On their tangled tresses

Give them leave to linger

For a little while

Let the feather brethren

Search for warmer climes

Leaving the cooling skies

To the wanderers wing

Let loose the north wind

Besom brush the autumn clutter

Make ready the wetlands

For the sleeping time

Now that November is in the 'back-pocket', we slip-slide our way through December here in the deep South with the greatest of ease. My Hummingbirds have however, followed the trail outlined in your fine poetry as mentioned here:
quote:
Let the feather brethren
Search for warmer climes
Leaving the cooling skies
To the wanderers wing

The most prominent of your "wanderers" right now are leaving 'contrails' over me. I think they're making me twitch a bit.

Ahhh . . . As Ticklefingers said, the "deep south" experience with November is an easy sort of slide. But surly, even  here, hard winter is ready to claim us. My northern friend laugh at me when I complain of the cold when the temperature plummets to forty-five. (It was forty this morning) I laugh with hilarity when they are snow-bound and cannot even leave the house.
