          Lost Love

A sleepy-crescent moon
hangs the late November
    horizon.
The Autumn evening wind
sings an epiphany of
transience and change.
An infinite star-mantle
speaks of deep mysteries
and all that we shall
   never know.
A thousand doors and
widows are closed,
this midnight hour,
to the darkest chill
and schemes of men.
Is any life possible
without regret?
There are far too
many ways for
Love to be lost;
yet, it seems too
few for it to be
found again.

Hi SHDP!

Let's talk. First, this set me to thinking:
quote:
"Is any life possible
without regret"?
I don't think so. Regrets as you know, may vary in their importance. If we were 'omnipresent', we could cover all our bases at the same time. I know that ability alone would remove almost all (if not all) of my regrets.

Secondly, and last, is this:
quote:
"There are far too
many ways for
Love to be lost;
yet, it seems too
few for it to be
found again".
This may be different for some than others, but I connect with this a great deal. It's one from my first quote of yours.

Fabulous food for thought SHDP! You got yourself off a very good write containing wisdom and a good philosophy.

Enjoyed playing with the necessity of regret; perhaps in regret there is also hope.
Thanks

shdreamPoet, Thoughts to ponder indeed.
Seems regret rattles around me more than
I'd like to hear him. *smiles*

Enjoyed reading..

You immerse in melancholy as no other, dear Bruce. We have the chance to be grateful for the love that has graced our lives. Regret doesn't serve our serenity, imo.

But I always love to read your beautiful verses, even the sad ones are beautiful!
