"This is for a baby iguana we had in our care for 3 short weeks" Your life was cut short, for the universe dealt you a different deck, From the very first time I saw you, you had a curious look about you, A picky eater, we had to fool you into eating your greens, We were busy preparing meals each morning and eve, Over the short time you were with us, you showed us a new level of care, We went above and beyond to secure your welfare, I cried when I heard about your loss, even though I’ve only held you a handful of times, My heart aches at the loss your life, I picture you in the box, breathing your last breath, Not a soul around to witness you pass, Only your lifeless limbs remain, as you were swept away, Oh, how I wish I could have held you during your final moments, Letting the Sun’s rays caress you one last time, But alas, we were absent, and for that we are truly sorry, I wore a polo shirt today with the color green, To remind me of you, We will bring you home today and will let your body feel the Sun one last time, If there is an afterlife, I do not know for sure, But we want to thank you for letting us be part of your former life. I speak insanity. I write fantasy. I sleep reality. |
