I hoped the world would end
They would stop and drop to knee
That they would speak in hushed tones
Of all memory of that which was me

I hoped they would cry in anguish
That they would speak a eulogy in heart
That i was more than I thought id been
That I had been just almost someone

But life went on
Noone caught a breath
no tears fell
A small whisper in the wind
A few lines in stone
And the world skated by
and I was
as I always knew I would be
Forgotten

I aint as good as I once was but I'm as good, once, as I ever was. - Toby Keith

Sometimes we feel neglected or even forgotten. We have no way of telling how others really feel. How nice it would be if only a few could find the words to let us know they care.

Go out today if you can and just smile at others and maybe toss in a few "good day to you
wishes <>I an sending mine to you and adding a little wink your way. Latearrival/ jo

forgotten is such a lonely word..I'm sure there are lots out there for whom you made a difference to their lives and won't ever forget you, the friends you have here in pip whom you touched by your poems..

Its like you are behind a curtain and no one sees you...no one hears you...wonderfully written.

...A small whisper in the wind...

Excellently penned. Life goes on. It is a fast paced world and I accept that. The verse above which you wrote says it all to the few that vaguely remember- then you're gone.

Thanks for the read,
Melton
